OVERVIEW
Furan-2 powder by API®. Contains two furan compounds to treat a wide variety of gram-positive & gram-negative bacterial diseases, including bacterial gill disease, open red sores (Aeromonas spp.), body slime & eye cloud, black molly disease (Flavobacterium columnaris) and fin & tail rot. For use in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. This medication will harm the biological filter. Adding nitrifying bacteria is recommended after treatment to boost biological filtration.
Note: This medication will cause a slight discoloration of water which can be removed with activated carbon.
Hemorrhagic Septicemia: A bacterial infection of the bloodstream. Fish may show blood streaks on the body and fins, red patches and localized swelling.
Body Slime and Eye Cloud: White haze or protruding eyes. Slimy patches on body. Fish may scratch on objects or exhibit heavy breathing. Fluid accumulation in eyes and/or body.
Open Red Sores: From small ulcers to deep skin lesions. Coloring of sores can be red or grey to very dark which indicates necrotic (dying) tissue.
Fin and Tail Rot: Fins appear damaged. In severe cases fins and tail are almost completely eroded. Secondary fungal infections appearing as a white “cotton” looking growth are common.
Bacterial Gill Disease: Bright red gills and heavy breathing, as well as fish sitting at the bottom or near top of aquarium water surface.
DIRECTIONS
For each 10 gallons of water, empty one packet directly into aquarium. Repeat dose after 24 hours. Wait another 24 hours then change 25% of the aquarium water. Repeat this treatment for a second time, for a total of 4 doses. Then make a final 25% water change and add fresh activated carbon or replace filter cartridge.
SIZE: 10 powder packets in package. Each package treats 100 gallons. Four doses required for full course of treatment.
