Crossflow Water MovementSimilar to the Maxspect Gyre flow pump, the IceCap 3K is capable of generating Gyre water movement in small aquariums at a reasonable price point. A single magnetic mount makes the pump easy to install. Comes with single side cap for a more compact "single propeller" operation for smaller tanks. Five Controllable flow modes and programmable 24 hour flow period.
Why Gyre generator and not a wavemaker?
Wavemakers work by making waves, but they are just moving the majority of the water vertically up and down, with relatively low horizontal movement, especially near the bottom of the aquarium.
On the other hand, the Gyre excels in generating massive movement of water from one side of the aquarium to the other. The flow of water is so strong that it bounces back from the opposite side to achieve full circulation in an aquarium, generating "Gyre flows".
