GH & KH should match the natural habitat
For freshwater fish and plants, KH (carbonate hardness) and GH (general hardness) should be maintained to proper levels to simulate the natural environment of aquarium inhabitants. Consistent use of tap water may have a tendency to increase hardness. This test kit should be used to measure both GH and KH to monitor and control hardness.
